Job summary

Avera McKennan is seeking a laboratory support professional to organize specimen collection requests and perform specimen collection procedures with an emphasis on accuracy and safety. The role includes specimen transport, processing, testing dispersal, and pre-analytic tasks under established standards.

Primary shift is evenings (1:00 PM – 9:30 PM) with varied hours and weekend/holiday rotation. A $1,500 sign-on bonus is offered and phlebotomy is not required.

Qualifications

• High School or GED equivalent required.
• Associate degree or minimum of one year of related laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood and other specimens from patients according to established standards and procedures.
• Labels, transports or stores collected specimens as directed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Processes all laboratory specimens (centrifuging, separating, measuring, storing and distributing).
• Completes patient registration, test order data entry and pertinent databases per standards.
• Identifies and resolves routine specimen acceptability and test order problems.
• Interprets test orders to determine collection time and specimen types to be collected.
• Performs selected point-of-care testing as applicable.
• Maintains supplies and records; supports regulatory and safety compliance.
