This position assists in the organization, preparation, and maintenance of Wake Tech Baking and Pastry Arts and Culinary Arts labs, including all practical applications of the Baking and Pastry Arts (BPA) and Culinary Arts (CUL) laboratory experiments.
Responsibilities
- Assist with organization, preparation, and maintenance of wake tech labs.
- Prepare all ingredients, instruments, and equipment needed for BPA and CUL laboratory experiments in a safe and effective manner.
- Monitor lab usage during open lab hours.
- Assist students in developing troubleshooting skills for BPA and CUL laboratory assignments.
- Maintain inventory and order BPA and CUL ingredients, supplies, and equipment; confer with instructors to determine needs.
- Maintain and organize Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) files; keep the lab free from clutter.
- Keep laboratory areas clean and maintain safety equipment and supplies.
- Maintain surpluses or remove outdated or expired food ingredients, supplies, and equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of ingredients, instruments, and equipment associated with the BPA and CUL programs.
- Knowledge of lab safety procedures and processes.
- Active listening and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in computer programs including the MS Office suite.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to perform normal duties with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing an Associate's degree in Baking with a minimum of 30 credit hours completed in Baking and Pastry Arts specific courses.
- Current ServSafe certification.
