Job summary

Synectics Inc. seeks a detail-oriented lab support technician to perform routine lab functions and assist staff in production. You will sort and receive specimens, maintain instruments, prepare reagents, and handle specimen processing at workstations.

The role includes QA/QC duties, data recording, and following safety and PPE regulations. The position runs Tuesday to Saturday, 7 PM–3:30 AM CST, in a lab setting in Illinois.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical assistant training helpful.
• Math and science courses preferred.
• Must establish work priorities and handle several tasks for maximum workstation efficiency.
• Must be able to retain information once learned.
• Must interact with coworkers and customers with courtesy and respect.
• Shift/Time Zone: 3RD SHIFT Central Time Zone Tuesday to Saturday 7PM to 3:30AM

Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory functions in a precise and accurate fashion to assist staff and facilitate production.
• Sorting and receiving specimens in the department.
• Performs routine instrument maintenance on equipment.
• Performs laboratory tasks of centrifuging specimens, printing labels, recording data (temperature charts), specimen storage and retrieval.
• Preparing reagents and media in the department.
• Preparing specimens at workstations for testing (building worklists, aliquoting, checking for clots).
• Performs QA/QC duties as assigned.
• Finds missing samples.
• Decontaminates work areas.
• Performs weekly radioactive wipe tests.
• Follows PPE requirements and safety regulations.
• Uses lab computer systems and operates PCs.
• Disposes of biohazardous material.
• Completes training and competency checklists.

• Sorting, and receiving specimens in the department.


• Performs routine instrument maintenance on some equipment.


• Performs laboratory tasks of centrifuging specimens, printing extra labels, recording data (temperature charts) specimen storage and retrieval.


• Preparing reagents and or media in the department.


• Preparing specimens at workstations for testing. (Including building worklists, aliquoting specimens into sample cups, checking specimens for clots and fibrin, inoculation, slide preparation)


• Performs QA/QC duties as assigned.


• Finds missing samples.


• Decontaminates work areas.


• Performs weekly radioactive wipe tests.


• Follows all PPE requirements and all safety regulations.


• Uses the laboratory computer system as well as operates PCs.


• Disposes of biohazardous material.
