Responsibilities
- Collect samples for testing, including phlebotomy procedures, venous and capillary punctures, and urine collections for medical and legal testing.
- Perform computer inquiries and data entry to maintain patient demographic and test ordering details in multiple systems, ensuring compliance.
- Process and prepare samples for testing at laboratories, including labeling, centrifugation, and preservation.
- Package and dispatch samples following guidelines.
- Provide guidance to new employees/students on procedures and policies.
- Perform collections such as venipuncture, capillary procedures, and special collections, including urine drug screens and Breath Alcohol Testing, adhering to safety standards.
- Use hospital and lab information systems for ordering, labeling, logging, and test management.
- Complete follow-up protocols and maintain audit trails for ambiguous cases.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, with completion of a phlebotomy course and internship, or equivalent on-the-job training with recent lab experience.
- Two years of recent related experience in a clinical lab or similar setting, plus one year of insurance collection/data entry experience preferred.
- Certifications: Current Washington Medical Assistant or Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist, BLS certification within 90 days, and optional ASCP registration.

Pay Range
$21.48 - $28.14 per hour.
