Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

Summary: The Laboratory Assistant II/Floater Hospital Lab. Asst is responsible for assisting the pathologists, pathology assistants, histology, cytology, and molecular staff as needed to ensure proper workflow of the departments. Daily duties may include instrument maintenance/cleaning, quality assurance, and data entry. This position may prepare specimens using specific technical equipment and procedures. The incumbent will primarily work at Tukwila Technical Lab but may be asked to cover at the Hospital.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs all duties as a Lab. Assistant.
• Supports functions in the laboratory.
• Maintains equipment, instruments, and supplies.
• Provides accurate and timely receiving and processing of specimens.
• Assists PAs, Histology, Cytology, and Molecular departments as needed.
• Performs Sendouts.
• Maintains knowledge of current CAP requirements and State & Federal regulations.
• Enters quality control data.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Certifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in laboratory science preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

• Laboratory experience.
• Competency with computers and MS Office programs.
• Ability to maintain accuracy, especially with numeric sequencing.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Adherence to HIPAA confidentiality standards.
• Ability to prioritize and coordinate work activities.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently.
• Ability to pass a standardized blind test.

Pay Range: $20.10 - $28.00 USD hourly

The listed amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonuses may be available. New hire offers generally fall between the minimum and midpoint of the range, depending on experience (DOE), with potential for growth within the range over time.
