Job summary

Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, NC is seeking a Full Time Phlebotomist (0.8 FTE) to perform phlebotomy procedures across patient ages in the Emergency Department, including bleeding time, blood cultures, and bedside glucose testing, plus point-of-care testing. Must have a high school diploma, completion of an approved phlebotomy course, and current BLS

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy procedures, including bleeding time, blood cultures, and blood sample collection from patients of all ages; conduct bedside glucose testing and waived or moderate complexity point-of-care testing in the Emergency Department.
• Assist in clerical duties of the department, including patient registration, specimen processing and quality assurance documentation as needed.

Job Shift: Day

Responsible for phlebotomy procedures to include bleeding time test, blood cultures, obtaining blood samples from neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients; performing glucose testing at the bedside; and performing waived or moderate complexity Point of Care testing at the bedside for patients in the Emergency Department. Also assists in clerical duties of the department; including patient registration, specimen processing, and quality assurance documentation as needed.

QualificationsEducation/Certification:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an approved phlebotomy course.
• Current BLS certification.

Experience:

• Previous laboratory experience (in a hospital setting preferred).
