Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Laboratory Animal Technician to provide care for research animals, perform rounds, and assist the veterinary team with clinical tasks in a hospital setting.

The role involves collecting samples, maintaining records, and ensuring humane treatment in accordance with SOPs and IACUC policies. Remote work is not available; after-hours and weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology preferred.
• LAT certification preferred.
• 1–2 years’ experience in laboratory animal or veterinary care required.
• Knowledge of institutional SOPs and policies.

Responsibilities

• Care for laboratory animals: feed, water, cage cleaning, and maintaining living environments.
• Prepare trainings and procedures; schedule and conduct basic skill trainings.
• Perform basic animal restraint; minimize stress; ensure safety for animals and staff.
• Take vital signs and perform general health checks.
• Assist veterinary staff with routine health assessments, medical treatments and procedures.
• Maintain animal records; document conditions, reactions, and changes in the database.
• Ensure compliance with institutional, regulatory, and ethical guidelines (IACUC).
• After hours, rotating weekend and holiday work may be required.
