Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; relevant certificates preferred.
  • Certificate 1: Laboratory Animal Technician preferred; Certificate 2: Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician preferred.
  • 1-3 years related experience; two years with laboratory animals.

Responsibilities

  • Provides daily husbandry care to research animals according to SOPs and regulations.
  • Monitors animal health; reports illnesses to Supervisor; completes required documents.
  • Assists with sentinel surveillance, bloodletting, fur plucks, and fecal testing.
  • Houses arriving colonies and ensures logs and cage cards match; reports errors.
  • Assists with treatments and health monitoring; may train staff in restraint and injections.
