Job summary

Charles River Laboratories, a leading CRO, is seeking an animal technician to generate and record data with minimal supervision for various studies. You will handle animals, perform in-life procedures, and ensure documentation aligns with GLP standards.

Location is on site in a regulated lab environment. The role requires a HS diploma (BS preferred) with 6–12 months in animal research or related fields; ALAT is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s preferred (B.S) in animal or life science or related discipline.
• 6 months to 1 year related experience in animal research and/or husbandry, or equivalent education/experience.
• ALAT certification preferred.
• Ability to handle laboratory animals; knowledge of GLP and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Administer test substances by basic methods (e.g., oral gavage).
• Collect and record research data and biological specimens per GLP, SOPs.
• Handle, restrain, and care for laboratory animals at the site.
• Input, print and edit entries (life numbers, weights, consumption, observations).
• Maintain clean work areas and animal enclosures.
• Observe animals for health and well-being.
• Perform in-life procedures (clipping, dosing, etc.).
• Read study protocols and extract pertinent information.
