Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; ALAT certification preferred or eligible.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory animals and animal husbandry practices.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and work in a demanding animal facility.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper housing for all species, replenish bedding, food and water per SOP.
• Prepare solutions and mixtures (medicated water, disinfectants, etc.).
• Perform daily animal husbandry and care for satellite facilities.
• Follow protective measures to prevent exposure to infectious agents.
• Provide carcass disposal according to SOPs.
• Maintain sanitary conditions and inventory of animals and supplies.
• Operate and maintain facility equipment (autoclave, washers, etc.).
• Report equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
