Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Laboratory Animal Technician Trainee to perform general care and maintenance of laboratory animals and facilities in a research and teaching environment at its Winston-Salem campus.

Under supervision, you will handle animals, assist with cage setup, inventory, and documentation, and communicate with clinical and management staff. Weekend and holiday shifts are required, and prior lab animal experience plus a HS diploma are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with previous lab animal experience.
• Valid applicable state driver's license.
• AALAS certification at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician level is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Care for and maintain laboratory animals and facilities as described for the LATT position.
• Safely handle and restrain all animal species with proper identification and location.
• Assemble caging equipment to provide safe housing for all species.
• Complete and document weekly supply and diet inventories.
• Communicate relevant information to clinical, supervisory, and management staff in writing and verbally.
• Provide species-specific environmental enrichment and assist with enrichment needs as directed.
