Job summary

Pfizer Groton is seeking a Technical Specialist to perform basic husbandry, restraint and health surveillance of laboratory animals in compliance with regulatory standards. You will maintain animal care equipment, assist in research studies, and support welfare protocols at our Connecticut site.

The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, weekend work, and adherence to AAALAC guidelines and GLP practices. US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED required.
• 4 years' experience required (+certifications).
• Experience in pharmaceutical setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine animal husbandry duties as directed.
• Observe and report status of animal health, food and water consumption, appearance, behavior.
• Provide support in basic veterinary medical treatment as prescribed by the veterinary staff.
• Support cage wash equipment operations and maintenance.
• Support research by providing basic technical services (restraint, dose administration) to research investigators.
• Train and mentor new hires in animal husbandry and facility support duties.
• May be required to work under USDA Animal Welfare Act regulations and AAALAC standards.
