Job summary

SGS North America Inc. in East Syracuse, NY is seeking a Lab Analyst with at least a year of sample preparation experience and familiarity with HPLC or ICP. The Lab Analyst prepares and analyzes samples with accuracy according to SGS SOPs, working independently and in a team to meet daily targets.

Hourly rate is $23.50–$24.50, with overtime eligibility. Benefits include 401K, paid vacation, floating holidays, and sick time accrual. Strong English, math and computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Chemistry or 0–2 years of experience in analytical labs, or 3 years relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry plus 1–2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Gas chromatography experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze samples per SGS SOPs using department instrumentation.
• Perform routine operation, maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.
• Assist with validation and LOQ studies and client inquiries.
• Maintain Laboratory Notebook and adhere to internal standards.

Job Description

Please note we are looking for candidates who have at least a year of sample preparation experience and ideally 6 months to a year of experience working with HPLC or ICP to be considered at an analyst level. Our East Syracuse, NY laboratory is looking for a Lab Analyst to join their team! The Lab Analyst prepares and analyzes samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. The Lab Analyst works independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. The Lab Analyst understands and applies basic analytical chemistry principles. The Lab Analyst always follows safe laboratory practices and maintains a safe working environment.

Job Functions

After appropriate training independently prepares and analyzes samples according to SGS' analytical SOPs using instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologiesPerforms routine operation, maintenance, calibration of laboratory instruments/equipmentMay assist with validation and LOQ studies.Assists with investigation, and preparation of responses to client inquiries and CAPs.Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations.Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline and 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories OR 3 years of relevant experience (Required)
• Bachelor's Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline and 1-2 years of years' relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Preferred)
• Gas Chromatography experience (Preferred)
• Advanced English language skills (Required)
• Basic reasoning and mathematical skills (Required)
• Basic computer skills (Required)
• Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)

The hourly rate for this position is $23.50 - $24.50 per hour (dependent on experience). This position is eligible for overtime pay.
