Job summary

SGS, a global leader in inspection, testing and certification, seeks an Analyst II in Chemistry Laboratory (Chromatography) in Lincolnshire, IL. This full-time role analyzes organic and inorganic substances for consumer product testing, performing routine preparation, extraction and digestion with instrumentation under SOPs.

Requires Associate or Bachelor degree in chemistry and 5+ years in chromatography, plus 2+ years in chromatography.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Chemistry or similar discipline.
  • 5+ years of laboratory experience in chromatography.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or similar discipline.
  • 2+ years of chromatography experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts routine and moderate analytical studies of samples following SOPs.
  • Prepares and files reports on client tests, calibrations and validations.
  • Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of instruments.
  • Develops and validates analytical methods and SOPs for method development and transfer.
  • Provides technical training and support to Analysts in data analysis.
  • Manages multiple projects and maintains Laboratory Notebook.

The Analyst II, Chemistry Laboratory evaluates the chemical and physical properties of various organic and inorganic substances for consumer product testing purposes. Under general supervision conducts mostly routine and moderate complex sample analysis, preparation, extraction, and digestion with and without the use of instrumentation following official methods and laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Responsibilities
  • Conducts mostly routine and moderate complexity analytical studies of samples, preparation, extraction, and digestion with and without the use of instrumentation following official methods and laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and protocols
  • Prepares, submits, and files reports on client sample tests, correlation tests, calibration, validation, and other projects
  • Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshoots laboratory instruments/equipment
  • Develops and validates analytical methods, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other operating, safety, and quality documents for method development, transfer, and validation studies
  • Provides technical training, advice, and support to Analysts in data analysis
  • May be involved in the investigation, preparation of the response, and in follows-up on client inquiries and complaints as needed
  • May provide technical support to Marketing, Sales, Customer Service and clients regarding testing, reporting, or technical inquiries
  • Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations
  • Manages multiple projects as assigned
  • Maintains Laboratory Notebook
  • Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Chemistry or similar discipline
  • 5+ years of laboratory experience inchromatography
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or similar discipline
  • 2+ experience in chromatography
