Job summary

SGS is seeking a Lab Analyst in East Syracuse, NY to prepare and analyze samples following established protocols. The analyst will work both independently and collaboratively to achieve production targets while ensuring adherence to safety practices.

This full-time position offers competitive hourly pay between $23.50–$24.50, eligible for overtime, along with benefits including paid vacation and a 401(k) retirement plan.

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories or 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with HPLC or ICP is ideally necessary.
  • Minimum one year of sample preparation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze samples according to SGS’ analytical SOPs.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instruments.
  • Input and maintain technical laboratory information.

Job description

Lab Analyst

Location: East Syracuse, NY. Job type: Full-time, hourly. Hourly pay: $23.50-$24.50 per hour, eligible for overtime.

The Lab Analyst prepares and analyzes samples with accuracy and precision in accordance with SGS’ analytical SOPs. The role requires independent work as well as collaboration with the team to meet daily production targets and maintain hold times and turnaround times. The analyst applies basic analytical chemistry principles and follows safe laboratory practices to maintain a safe working environment.

Responsibilities
  • Independently prepare and analyze samples according to SGS’ analytical SOPs.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Assist with validation and LOQ studies.
  • Investigate and prepare responses to client inquiries and CAPs.
  • Input and maintain technical information to support laboratory functions.
  • Maintain a laboratory notebook where applicable.
  • Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Chemistry or related scientific discipline and 0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories, or 3 years of relevant experience (required).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related discipline and 1-2 years of related experience (preferred).
  • Experience with Gas Chromatography (preferred).
  • Advanced English language skills (required).
  • Basic reasoning and mathematical skills (required).
  • Basic computer skills (required).
  • Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull up to 25 lbs frequently (required).
  • Minimum one year of sample preparation experience; ideally 6 months to a year of experience with HPLC or ICP (required for analyst level).
