Job summary

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS) is seeking a Lab Aide for Port Jefferson, NY. The role focuses on basic lab procedures, equipment operation, safety, and accuracy in a fast-paced clinical setting.

You will handle logs, inventory, waste disposal, and document workflows, while leveraging Labdaq, Onco EMR and Infinity systems. Strong written and verbal communication will be essential in collaborating with staff and supervisors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 1 year of experience in laboratory operations.
• Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures and practices.
• Proficient in Word/Excel.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Have knowledge of basic laboratory procedures and practices.
• Operate and maintain centrifuges and processing equipment within the Laboratory Services Department.
• Focus on safety and quality assurance procedures with regulatory compliance.
• Perform tasks like logs, restocking supplies, disposing biohazard waste, temperature charts, inventory counts, archiving records, scanning, and workflow maintenance.
• Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills.
• Interact positively with supervisors, managers, and coworkers.
• Navigate Labdaq, Onco EMR and Infinity as needed.
• Suggest departmental improvements to management.
