HCLTech is seeking a Lab Administrator (Support & Operations) to manage a telecom/cloud validation lab, ensuring infrastructure readiness and secure access for engineering and testing teams in a 5G environment.

The role requires hands-on Linux administration, networking, virtualization, and automation. Onsite work in Naperville, IL, with collaboration across distributed teams to keep labs healthy and ready for validation activities.

Responsibilities

• Provision, configure, and maintain physical and virtual infrastructure (servers, networks, storage, test tools).
• Install, patch, monitor, and troubleshoot Linux systems, hypervisors, containers, and middleware.
• Manage user access, IP addressing, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, NTP, certificates, and remote access services.
• Coordinate environment reservations, deployments, test data setup, backups, resets, and recovery.
• Monitor lab health, performance, and capacity; proactively resolve infra issues.
• Troubleshoot hardware, OS, storage, and network problems.
• Maintain inventory, topology diagrams, rack layouts, licenses, warranties, and assets.
• Follow security, access governance, and change management procedures.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts for administration, health checks, monitoring, reporting.
• Collaborate with distributed teams to ensure environment readiness.

Lab Administrator (Support & Operations) – 5G Telco Infrastructure Management

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Administrator (Support & Operations) to support and operate a telecom/cloud validation lab environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring infrastructure availability, secure access management, environment readiness, asset tracking, and operational support for engineering and testing teams.

This role requires strong hands-on experience with Linux administration, networking, virtualization platforms, and 5G telecom infrastructure environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provision, configure, and maintain physical and virtual infrastructure including servers, network devices, storage systems, and test tools.
• Install, patch, monitor, and troubleshoot Linux systems, hypervisors, containers, and supporting middleware.
• Manage user access, credentials, IP addressing plans, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, NTP, certificates, and remote access services.
• Coordinate environment reservations, build deployments, test data setup, backups, system resets, and recovery activities.
• Monitor lab health, performance, and capacity while proactively identifying and resolving infrastructure issues.
• Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, storage, network connectivity, and infrastructure-related problems.
• Maintain inventory records, topology diagrams, rack layouts, licensing information, warranties, and asset tracking documentation.
• Follow organizational security, safety, access governance, and change management procedures.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts for administration, health checks, monitoring, and reporting activities.
• Collaborate closely with distributed engineering, validation, and operations teams to ensure environment readiness.

• Exposure to telecom testing and validation environments
• Experience supporting 4G/5G network elements
• Familiarity with traffic generators, protocol analyzers, and telecom test tools

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range Minimum: $69,000/year

Pay Range Maximum: $120,000/year
