Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year of data entry experience required.
• Preference for familiarity with drug names and HIPAA-protected information.
• Preference for candidates with experience handling bodily fluids such as urine, plasma, oral fluid.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming specimens (urine, oral fluid, plasma, PCR) and prepare them for testing.
• Enter patient data, specimen information, medications, and orders into the LIS.
• Verify specimen labeling and documentation accuracy.
• Print and attach barcode labels to containers and documents.
• Pipet accessioned specimens into appropriate test tubes for testing and storage.
• Meet KPIs for speed and accuracy in processing.
• Transport specimens to other departments as needed.
• Stock and refill samples, reagents, and supplies for lab operations.
• Scan and document specimens and notify departments when criteria aren’t met.
• Assist with preparing specimens for rerun testing and dispose of retained specimens.
• Communicate issues across departments and maintain clean storage and carts.
