Job summary

Cypress HCM is seeking an Accessioning Technician to receive and sort specimens for testing in a fast-paced lab environment.

You will review requisitions, obtain missing information through collaboration with Customer Care, and accession cases by entering accurate data into our LIS, labeling samples, and preparing travel documents. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential, including night or weekend shifts if needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or AS required.
• 1+ years of Accessioning Technician experience preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work any shift including nights and weekends.
• Must be able to work in a biohazard environment and follow safety policies.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Receives and sorts specimens for testing
• Reviews all requisitions for missing information, works closely with Customer Care to obtain missing information in a timely manner and distributes new information to all departments involved
• Reports problem holds and provides resolution in a timely manner
• Accessions all cases received for testing, including data entry of all pertinent information into our LIS
• Timely and accurately enters data into our LIS, label samples and create folders, generate specimen travel documents, and forwards respective sample to personnel/departments
• Assembles case paperwork and files, including pre-analytic documentation and labels
• Performs entry of add-on testing and coordinates split specimens
• Sends out specimens to appropriate reference laboratories by coordinating the shipment process, maintaining client communication, and generating the necessary logs
• Uses company platforms to effectively communicate with internal staff
• Remains informed of all procedure changes pertaining to sample processing
• Performs quality assurance checks of samples
• Attends department meetings and company in-service trainings to enhance knowledge on testing and systems

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or AS
• 1+ years of experience equivalent to an Accessioning Technician preferred

• Must be able to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment and maintain production and quality standards
