Job summary

Kamehameha Schools invites applications for an Instructor in the Ho‘omākaika‘i Summer Program. Instructors develop and deliver Hawaiian cultural lessons—language, history, place names, oli, music, and hula—engaging students across 5 week-long sessions for rising 6th graders.

Roles include guiding students, supervising field trips, and supporting program assessment. Training runs March–June with program dates June 13–July 16; evening or weekend duties may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Hawaiian Studies, Hawaiian Language, Elementary Education, or closely related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Hawaiian culture and history.
• Develop culturally relevant activities and lessons.
• Teach and work effectively with elementary, middle school and high school age students.
• Use good human relations and communication skills.
• Driver's license; First aid certification desirable.
• Knowledge of KS operations and programs desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, prepare, and instruct students in lessons and activities aligned to KOA overview (language, history, culture, place names, oli, music, hula).
• Understands and follows KS policies; supervise and participate with students on field trips; assist with Hô'ike prep.
• Provides guidance and counseling to students.
• Administers program assessment tools; provide feedback on curriculum, lessons, activities.
