Job summary

Kamehameha Schools is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant for the West Hawaii preschool region in Kona. The role supports a Hawaiian Culture-Based Education program, ensuring safety and appropriate ratios, and provides instructional support across individual, small group, and large group activities.

The candidate will help with materials, family communication, assessments, and substitute teaching as needed. Preferred qualifications include ECE credits and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• One of the following educational credentials.
• Minimum of 6 months of related work experience.
• Current Community First Aid and Pediatric CPR Certification.
• Current Department of Health, Food Handler’s Certification.
• Ability to implement and support early childhood behavior management strategies.
• Patience and understanding of the developmental needs of young children.

Responsibilities

• Assists with daily classroom instruction in line with lesson plans.
• Helps prepare instructional materials for engaging learning resources.
• Supports the teacher in implementing lesson plans and activities.
• Facilitates group activities and monitors student participation.
• Maintains student records and communicates needs to staff.
