Job summary

KAYAK is seeking a Manager, Kubernetes Operations to lead the container platform at global scale from Massachusetts. You will own the technical roadmap, manage a team of platform engineers, and partner with security and software teams to ensure reliability, security, and observability across production and non-production environments.

You will drive GitOps adoption, implement IaC, and oversee upgrades, capacity planning, and incident response.

Qualifications

8+ years in SRE/DevOps with 3+ years in engineering leadership.
Experience operating large-scale 24/7 Kubernetes environments.
Hands-on Kubernetes RBAC, network policy, multi-environment ops (on-prem/cloud).
Strong IaC experience with Terraform/Ansible.
People management with hiring and team development.
Observation tooling like Prometheus and Grafana; alerting
Proficient in Python/Go/Bash scripting for automation.
Excellent cross-functional communication across teams.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of container platform engineers, including hiring and performance management.
Own the Kubernetes platform roadmap, reliability, scalability and security.
Oversee cluster upgrades, provisioning, capacity planning, and migrations from legacy systems.
Coach engineers on best practices, security, and incident response.
Collaborate with software, security, and infra teams to ensure reliability and deployability.
Drive GitOps and IaC adoption across environments.
Design observability standards and post-incident review processes.
Maintain high standards of operational excellence and on-call practices.
