Job summary

KAYAK is hiring a Manager, Kubernetes Operations in Massachusetts to lead our container platform engineers and own the Kubernetes roadmap. You will ensure cluster reliability, security, and scalability across production and non-production environments with a focus on observability and incident response.

You will guide hiring, performance management, and career development while partnering with software engineering, security, and infrastructure teams to deliver a robust platform at global scale.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in SRE/DevOps or platform engineering with leadership experience

Responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap and operational strategy for the Kubernetes platform
• Lead a team of container platform engineers with hiring and career development responsibilities
• Manage cluster lifecycle: upgrades, provisioning, capacity planning, workload migration
• Coach engineers on Kubernetes best practices, security, RBAC, and observability
• Collaborate with software engineering, security, and infra teams for reliable workloads
• Drive IaC and GitOps adoption for config and deployment
• Define standards for observability: metrics, alerting, dashboards
• Maintain high on-call standards and blameless post-mortems
• Align platform roadmap with infra and product goals
• Advance security posture with cluster hardening and network policy
