Job summary

Newton Research is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to own our Kubernetes platform end to end, from cluster design to the developer experience on top of it. Our product runs on AWS and customer deployments on Azure and GCP, so portability is a priority.

You will design deployment pipelines with Helm and GitOps (Argo CD or Flux), harden installations, and lead incident response, SLO/SLI definitions, and SOC 2 posture efforts with audit readiness. Base salary is $150k-$175k plus equity.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in DevOps, SRE, platform, or infrastructure engineering with ownership of production systems at scale.
• Deep production Kubernetes experience with upgrades, autoscaling, RBAC, and network policy.
• Hands-on with Helm and a GitOps deployment model (Argo CD, Flux, or equivalent).
• Strong Terraform experience across multiple cloud providers; AWS expertise (EKS) with Azure and GCP knowledge.
• Proficiency with GitHub Actions or comparable CI/CD tooling.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and distributed tracing.
• SSO implementation via SAML 2.0 and/or OIDC with enterprise IdPs; Auth0 as a plus.
• Experience supporting SOC 2 or ISO 27001.

Responsibilities

• Own the Kubernetes platform: cluster provisioning and lifecycle, upgrade strategy, autoscaling, and multi-tenancy boundaries.
• Design deployment methods — Helm charts, GitOps workflows, progressive delivery, and rollback strategies.
• Package and harden applications for customer-installed Kubernetes deployments and support onboarding.
• Manage in-cluster ecosystem: ingress, certificates, secrets, service mesh, and operators.
• Build and maintain Terraform-driven cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) from merge to production rollout with release gating and rollback.
• Instrument systems with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Sentry, and Better Stack; define and manage SLOs/SLIs and incident response.
• Contribute to SOC 2 posture — RBAC, audit logging, encryption, and evidence collection.
