Job summary

Qualcomm IT seeks a Kubernetes generalist who can assist with the construction, deployment, management, automation, and troubleshooting of high performance bare-metal on-prem and cloud-based multi-tenant Kubernetes clusters using Rancher. Kubernetes distributions in use are RKE2 (on-prem) and GKE, EKS, AKS (cloud).

This role requires full-time onsite work in San Diego, CA, with growth opportunities through project work and mentoring within an experienced Kubernetes platform team.

Qualifications

• 4+ years IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree.
• 7+ years IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
• 2+ years Kubernetes administration experience.
• Advanced proficiency with Kustomize or Helm (preferably both).
• Intermediate knowledge of Kubernetes networking internals (Cilium).
• Direct experience deploying and maintaining enterprise Kubernetes clusters.
• Advanced proficiency with Linux container runtimes and related tooling (Docker+ContainerD).
• Strong git/Github and scripting skills (Python or Go; Bash).
• Knowledge of Kubernetes control plane architecture and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Agile project management in JIRA.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and manage high-performance on-prem and cloud Kubernetes clusters using Rancher.
• Monitor performance and availability of all clusters, including GPU acceleration.
• Develop and deploy platform automation scripts and tooling.
• Troubleshoot complex platform issues and advance multi-tenancy patterns.
