Qualcomm Incorporated seeks a Kubernetes Platform Engineer (IT Engineer Staff) in San Diego to build, deploy, and manage high-performance Kubernetes clusters on bare-metal and cloud, with a focus on automation and multi-tenant reliability. You will work with Rancher, RKE2, GKE, EKS, and AKS, ensuring monitoring, performance, and security across clusters.

The role emphasizes on-site work in San Diego, with opportunities to drive advanced Kubernetes projects, from auto-healing to policy migrations

Qualifications

2+ years Kubernetes administration experience.
Advanced proficiency with Kustomize and Helm.
Intermediate knowledge of Kubernetes networking internals (Cilium).
Direct experience deploying and maintaining enterprise Kubernetes clusters.
Advanced proficiency with Docker+ContainerD and Linux containers.
Advanced proficiency with git and GitHub.
Knowledge of Kubernetes control plane architecture and troubleshooting.
Intermediate proficiency with Python or Go.
Intermediate proficiency with bash scripting.
Familiar with Agile project management in JIRA.

Responsibilities

Build and manage on-prem and cloud Kubernetes clusters using Rancher (RKE2 on-prem, GKE/EKS/AKS in cloud).
Monitor performance and availability, including GPU acceleration for workloads.
Develop and deploy platform automation scripts and software.
Implement self-healing automation and test/validate new Kubernetes versions.
Migrate/modernize policies and multi-tenancy patterns (e.g., vcluster, Gatekeeper OPA).
Troubleshoot cluster issues and contribute to automation improvements.
