Job summary

FreeWheel, a Comcast company, seeks an experienced software engineer in Reston, VA to design and implement scalable software platforms. You will analyze system requirements, customize applications, and contribute to software updates while mentoring junior engineers.

You will work with Go or Python, Kubernetes, AWS, and CI/CD tooling, participate in QA, and help train users. A Bachelor's degree and 5–7 years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering or platform engineering
• Experience with at least one programming language such as Go, Python
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications
• Experience with AWS or OCI and CI/CD tooling
• Familiarity with Terraform and GitOps practices
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and collaboration abilities

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and integrate software solutions that align with business needs
• Conducting analysis of system requirements and the customization of applications to ensure optimal functionality
• Assisting with the software update process and roll-outs of software releases
• Mentoring junior engineers and fostering technical excellence within the team
• Engaging with QA to verify that software meets specifications and delivers high-quality applications
• Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in software and systems
• Synthesizing market research and industry trends to inform project strategies
• Conducting training sessions for operational staff on internal applications
