Job summary

FreeWheel, a Comcast company, is seeking a Sr Backend Python Developer to join the Beeswax team. You will design and implement scalable backend services, build RESTful APIs with Django, and contribute to high‑availability systems at scale.

You will collaborate with engineers and stakeholders, mentor juniors, ensure robust deployments on Kubernetes/EKS and AWS, and help drive performance metrics while maintaining quality documentation and disciplined release processes.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience with Python and Django.
• Experience creating RESTful APIs with Django.
• Experience with PHP.
• Experience with Kubernetes/EKS and AWS; owning production deployments at scale.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify requirements and plan backend solutions.
• Design and develop software and web applications; assist with integration of new apps.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical documentation.
• Ensure high performance and reliability of backend systems; track metrics and optimize accordingly.
• Lead architectural discussions and defend design decisions to internal/external audiences.
• Coordinate with QA to verify implementations meet specs; participate in deployments and releases.
