Job description

Join Goodwin’s Global Operations Team, and make a real impact on a global scale. At Goodwin, we work with some of the world’s most successful and innovative investors, entrepreneurs and disruptors in the life sciences, private equity, real estate, technology and financial industries, and where they converge. As part of the Global Operations Team – all business professionals at the firm – you’ll collaborate with colleagues from varied backgrounds and experiences, fostering an environment where cross-functional learning, networking, and collaboration are at the core of what we do.

Here, we’re not just supporting a law firm; we’re partnering with attorneys and clients to deliver cutting-edge solutions in high-stakes litigation and dispute resolution, world-class regulatory compliance and advisory services, and complex transactions. Our commitment to integrity, ingenuity, agility, and ambition drives us, and we’re proud to have been recognised as the “Best Business Team” by The American Lawyer.

This is your opportunity to grow professionally in a dynamic, global environment, surrounded by forward-thinking peers.

The Knowledge & Innovation “K&I Analyst” maintains the content and information within various Knowledge Management (“KM”) data systems. This role ensures up-to-date and accurate information within KM systems by performing data mining, data entry and editing, analysis and quality control reviews. The K&I Analyst collects and maintains current information about the status, key facts, and people associated with the firm’s corporate and litigation engagements, keeping matters data consistent, reliable, and accurate, and making it available to knowledge management, marketing, and firm administration. The K&I Analyst also helps identify opportunities to automate existing data entry workstreams, working with the KM department to streamline manual processes and improve efficiency. The K&I Analyst collaborates with members of the KM department in designing knowledge management processes to help better serve the firm.

What You Will Do:
  • Supports the maintenance of content on KM-related intranet pages and platforms, including posting of materials and updating content. Works with members of the KM Department to ensure that content in KM systems meets the needs of the firm.
  • Executes the workflow and processes associated with capturing and entering deal and case information into the firm’s experience management platform, including monitoring new matter openings, analyzing and timely processing of deal summaries, assigning meta-data tags to facilitate searching and reporting, and continuous outreach to attorneys and other firm members to collect missing data.
  • Verifies data accuracy within KM systems and ensures consistent application and compliance of KM taxonomies. Monitors compliance of data collection workflows, including regular evaluation of the effectiveness of data collection processes. As necessary, works with the KM department to develop new workflows and processes.
  • Provides reports on matter and people information to Practice Area and Marketing staff and attorneys relating to pitches; this includes both routine reporting and time-intensive data mining under tight deadlines.
  • Conducts KM onboarding/orientation sessions for new GO! Team personnel.
  • Gathers information about litigation cases, people, and work product, and funnels it to the appropriate databases; maintains the pipeline of information and generates reports. Contacts litigation attorneys and administrative staff to collect information for the Matter Pages profile and related databases such as InterAction and peripheral case-tracking systems. Obtains additional information through periodic reviews of matter hours and key documents, and from external sources reporting on the firm’s litigation activity (e.g., reported decisions where firm attorneys are counsel of record). Tracked information includes forum; disposition/trial status; caption and case number; and key external participants such as judge, mediator, or arbitrator.
  • Direct interaction with attorneys and professional staff to construct and generate relevant reports from knowledge management resources to address users’ needs.
  • Supports the firm’s document automation, data visualizations and other KM-sponsored applications, including working directly with outside vendors to ensure completion of tasks; assists with technology development, database maintenance, and data entry on new systems that the KM program may be piloting or working on.
  • Monitors and responds to internal requests for information and other inquiries, directing users to relevant KM resources.
  • Promotes the use of KM systems and KM best practices.
Who You Are:
  • 5 years of relevant experience in a law firm, professional services firm or corporate environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree. Corporate paralegal experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of content management processes and technologies.
  • Experience with Copilot, SharePoint and advanced Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with Foundation, InterAction, iManage, Data Visualization Programs, Contract Express and Microsoft Office preferred.

  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the firm in a professional manner.
