Job summary

URBN Urban Outfitters, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Designer for We The Free Knits to support the Senior Designer in monthly and seasonal development of private label knit products.

You will participate in concept research, sketching, and development packages, while coordinating with vendors and cross‑functional teams. Ideal candidates will be highly organized, creatively curious, and eager to build a strong foundation in knitwear development, from concept to sample tracking, with proficiency in

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Fashion Design or related field.
• 1-2 years of industry experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills across design, merchandising and production teams.
• Highly organized and detail‑oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Foundational knitwear knowledge and interest in trend direction.
• Proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop; familiarity with PLM/Web PDM platforms.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly and seasonal development calendar with Design, Merchandising, Technical Design, Production, Raw Materials and Sourcing teams.
• Assist Senior Designer with seasonal research, sketches, artwork development and fabric/yarn exploration.
• Develop mock-ups, draping, pattern exploration and prototype samples for milestone meetings.
• Prepare development packages with sketches, construction notes, materials, trims and color information.
• Create and maintain technical sketches, spec sheets and PLM updates with accuracy.
• Coordinate proto samples, lab dips, trims, artwork, washes and other development submits.
• Communicate fit, construction and finishing details to Technical Design and vendors.
• Attend weekly Design Flow meetings and track outstanding items.
