URBN Urban Outfitters, Inc. (Free People) is seeking an Assistant Designer of Denim to support the We The Free Denim design team from concept through production.

This role contributes to monthly and seasonal collections through trend research, sketching, wash and fabric development, and hands-on product development. The ideal candidate is curious, highly creative and hands-on, with a strong point of view and eagerness to grow within the denim category.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field.
• 1–3 years of apparel design experience; denim experience desirable.
• Strong passion for denim with knowledge of wash, fabric, construction.
• Proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop; Procreate preferred.
• Experience creating technical sketches, tech packs and development packages.

Responsibilities

• Contribute original design ideas through sketching, Procreate, AI tools, and vintage references.
• Create and maintain technical sketches, design packages, and BOM info.
• Set up and maintain tech packs and BOM information throughout the development process.
• Participate actively in garment fittings, update technical sketches, and communicate changes.
• Partner with Product Development, Technical Design, Fabric R&D, Merchandising and vendors to track development and maintain design intent.
