Qualifications

• Previous experience as Knife Technician or in a similar sawmill role.
• Proficiency in operating general hand tools.
• Excellent attention to detail and precision in work.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, standing long hours and handling sharp tools.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to think on your feet.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair and change knives used in sawmill machinery to ensure optimal performance.
• Operate and maintain equipment used for knife sharpening and alignment.
• Inspect knives for defects, ensuring they meet high-quality standards.
• Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
• Diagnose and resolve issues with knives and related equipment.
• Keep track of knife inventory and ensure supplies and tools are on hand.
• Maintain records of maintenance and repairs performed on knives.
• Collaborate with mill operators to ensure seamless production processes.
• General cleanup throughout the mill including planermill and sawmill.
• Perform any tasks as requested by supervision.
