Job summary

Project Renewal in New York is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Worker to serve meals at our homeless shelters and city kitchens. You will work shifts of 3 hours, with 1-3 shifts daily for Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner, preparing and serving meals to 50-200 residents and ensuring dietary needs are respected.

Responsibilities

• Serve three meals daily for 50-200 residents with attention to dietary restrictions.
• Shifts are 3 hours each with 1-3 shifts daily for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner.
• Keep hot food hot and cold food cold; no exceptions.
• Supervise the serving of meals.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly.
• Assist in stock control and management according to regulations.
• Ensure sanitation and cleanliness of surfaces and storage containers.
• Support daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of the kitchen and equipment.

Salary: $20.079/hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Depending on the shift, essential duties of the Kitchen Worker include but are not limited to the following activities:

• Serving three meals daily for 50-200 residents as well as snacks, with particular attention to the needs of residents with dietary restrictions
• Shifts are 3 hours each and there is flexibility in working 1-3 shifts daily for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner
• Keeping hot food hot and cold food cold. No exceptions.
• Responsible for supervising the serving of meals
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly
• Assist in the storage, control, and management of all stock, according to regulations and administrative procedures
• Ensure the proper sanitation and cleanliness of surfaces and storage containers
• Support with all aspects of daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of the kitchen, equipment, and other food service areas
