Job summary

The LifeCafe Chef at Life Time Inc. leads the back-of-house team, ensuring quality preparation and adherence to recipe standards while keeping costs in line with budget. You will supervise cooks and dishwashers and support inventory control.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years in a kitchen, and ServSafe certifications. This role requires leadership, calm under pressure, and the ability to stand for long periods in a busy cafe environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of kitchen experience.
• ServSafe Food Manager Certification or equivalent.
• ServSafe Alcohol Safety or equivalent (if applicable).
• ServSafe Allergen Certification or equivalent (if applicable).
• Ability to stay calm under food production issues.
• Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Maintains daily back-of-house operations including cleanliness, ordering food and supplies, evaluating prep lists and par levels.
• Observes and manages cooks and dishwashers to ensure methods of cooking and portion sizes follow recipe standards.
• Supervises, trains, develops, and assesses kitchen staff to ensure growth through orientations and feedback.
• Maximizes profit by controlling food costs through recipe adherence, proper ordering and par levels; assists with inventory control.
• Makes recommendations on hiring, promotion and termination of employees to the Café Leader.
