Job summary

Upper Crust Food Service is seeking a dependable Kitchen Steward to keep the kitchen clean, stocked, and running smoothly. You will wash dishes, store deliveries, and assist with prep while upholding strict sanitation standards.

Ideal candidates will have prior dishwashing experience, comfort with a commercial dishwasher, and a willingness to obtain necessary food safety certifications within 30 days. Background checks will be conducted.

Qualifications

• Dependable team member with a strong work ethic.
• Previous dishwashing in a food-service setting is preferred.
• Food safety certification or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• High school or vocational kitchen basics coursework is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keep the kitchen and dining area clean and sanitary.
• Wash utensils, equipment, and dishes by machine or by hand.
• Put away clean dishware, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans.
• Stock supplies at serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and salad bars.
• Sweep and wash floors in kitchen and dining areas.
• Sort and remove trash to designated pickup areas.
• Assist with basic food prep duties as needed, such as salad bar items.
• Assist with unloading deliveries and storage.
• Communicate regularly with management by phone, email, or text.
• Maintain adherence to food safety guidelines and sanitation practices.

The Role

Kitchen Stewards keep the kitchen clean, stocked, and running the way it should — washing dishes, putting away deliveries, and pitching in on prep when needed. This is a role for someone who's dependable, doesn't cut corners, and takes clean seriously.

Instructions

• Keep the kitchen and dining room clean and sanitary
• Wash utensils, equipment, and dishes by machine or by hand
• Put away clean dishware, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans
• Stock supplies at serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and salad bars
• Sweep and wash floors

• Help with food prep duties as directed, such as salad bar and cold dishes
• Help unload and put away deliveries
• Communicate regularly with management by phone, email, and text
• Previous restaurant dishwashing experience preferred
• Working knowledge of operating a commercial dishwasher
• Food safety handler and sanitation certification, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment
• Ability to pass a background check
• High school or vocational coursework in kitchen basics, such as food safety, preferred

Chef's Notes

• The work environment can be loud and busy, with kitchen hazards such as hot surfaces and liquids, sharp knives, and slippery floors
• Exposure to extreme heat or cold is possible depending on the kitchen environment
• Required to stand for long periods, up to 8+ hours, as well as walk, bend, and stoop
• Must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals
