Job summary

Upper Crust Food Service, LLC is seeking a Kitchen Steward to help keep the kitchen and dining areas clean, sanitary, and well-organized in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

You will wash utensils and dishes by machine or hand, stock at serving stations, assist with prep, and assist with deliveries, with a focus on food safety and teamwork.

Previous restaurant dishwashing experience is preferred, and the role may require standing long hours and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Restaurant dishwashing experience preferred.
• Experience with commercial dishwashers preferred.
• Food safety handler and sanitation certification, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• High school or vocational coursework in kitchen basics, such as food safety, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Keep the kitchen and dining room clean and sanitary.
• Wash utensils, equipment, and dishes by machine or by hand.
• Put away clean dishware, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans.
• Stock supplies at serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and salad bars.
• Sweep and wash floors.
• Sort and remove trash to designated pickup areas.
• Help with food prep duties as directed, such as salad bar and cold dishes.
• Help unload and put away deliveries.
• Communicate regularly with management by phone, email, and text.

The Role

Kitchen Stewards keep the kitchen clean, stocked, and running the way it should - washing dishes, putting away deliveries, and pitching in on prep when needed. This is a role for someone who's dependent, doesn't cut corners, and takes clean seriously.

Chef's Notes

• The work environment can be loud and busy, with kitchen hazards such as hot surfaces and liquids, sharp knives, and slippery floors
• Exposure to extreme heat or cold is possible depending on the kitchen environment
• Required to stand for long periods, up to 8+ hours, as well as walk, bend, and stoop
• Must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals
