Position Summary
Able to perform the essential functions of kitchen staff positions on an as-needed basis.
Functions Of The Job
Essential Functions Production
- Assist with set-up of serving lines daily and ensure all food is held at the required temperature. Stock milk coolers for service.
- Assist in food preparation according to the menu plan and Opaa! recipes. Plan and prep for upcoming menus.
- Operate slicers, mixers, grinders, and other equipment with proper certification.
- Maintain neat, clean, and organized work areas.
- Clean kitchen and cafeteria areas, including equipment and dishes.
- Organize inventory stock and practice FIFO procedures. Keep cooler/storage racks clean.
- Maintain dishwashing area, monitor chemical usage, and record temperatures. Store clean dishes properly.
- Requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager.
- Prepare baked goods and present them appealingly.
- Batch cook to ensure quality and presentation.
- Set up serving/bar lines, ensure proper food temperatures, and restock as needed.
- Serve food with proper sizes and utensils, ensuring quality presentation and hospitality.
- Keep serving lines stocked with food, condiments, napkins, and utensils.
Compliance
- Prepare foods per menu and recipes, following standards for consistency and quality.
- Follow meal pattern regulations and maintain accurate production records.
- Adhere to HACCP procedures and record food safety logs.
- Follow safety rules, report unsafe conditions, and participate in safety programs.
- Attend meetings, complete training, and promote Opaa! Core Values.
- Maintain compliance with timekeeping policies.
Administrative
- Handle customer payments, make change, and operate POS systems.
- Complete paperwork, tray counts, and meal reconciliation daily.
- Log hours worked and notify in case of shift inability.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical/Visual Activities
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, squat, climb, and reach. Capable of exerting force over 60 pounds and lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include focus, depth perception, and color vision.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED preferred; or up to one month of related experience or training.
Skills
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively. Basic math skills and reasoning ability to follow instructions and solve problems.
Equipment
Use of kitchen appliances, software, and tools as listed.
