Position Summary

Prepare breakfast and/or lunch offerings and assist with serving lines. Participate in occasional catering functions. Perform all kitchen positions.

Functions of the Job

Essential Functions Production

  • Assist with setting up serving lines daily, ensuring food is at the required temperature. Stock milk coolers for service.
  • Assist in food preparation according to the menu plan and Opaa! recipes. Prepare ahead for the next day's menus.
  • Operate slicers, mixers, grinders, and other equipment with proper certification.
  • Maintain neat, clean, and organized work areas.
  • Clean kitchen and cafeteria areas, including equipment and dishes.
  • Organize inventory stock and follow FIFO procedures. Keep coolers and storage areas clean.
  • Maintain dishwashing area, monitor chemical usage, and store clean dishes properly.
  • Requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager.
  • Prepare baked goods as per the menu and present appealingly.
  • Batch cook to ensure quality and presentation.
  • Set up serving/bar lines, ensuring food is at proper temperatures, and restock as needed.
  • Serve food with proper sizes and utensils, maintaining quality and hospitality standards.
  • Supply serving lines with food items, condiments, napkins, silverware, and dishes.

Compliance

  • Follow menu plans and recipes to prepare foods.
  • Use standardized recipes for consistency.
  • Recognize reimbursable meals and adhere to Meal Pattern regulations.
  • Keep accurate daily production records.
  • Follow HACCP procedures, record temperatures, and maintain food safety logs.
  • Follow safety rules, report unsafe conditions, and participate in safety programs.
  • Attend meetings and complete training hours as required.
  • Promote Opaa!’s Core Values.
  • Comply with Timekeeping policies.

Administrative

  • Handle customer payments, operate POS systems, and process paperwork.
  • Complete daily tray counts and meal reconciliation.
  • Record work hours accurately and notify supervisors of shift issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands

Frequent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, grasping, feeling, tasting, smelling, talking, hearing, reaching.

Occasionally lift over 60 pounds and frequently lift up to 25 pounds.

Vision requirements include focus, depth perception, and color vision.

Working Conditions

Indoor and outdoor environments, exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, extreme heat, occasional chemicals, and loud noise levels.

Position Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED preferred; or up to one month of related experience or training.

Language Skills

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with customers and staff.

Mathematical Skills

Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and interpreting graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Apply common sense to carry out instructions and solve problems with concrete variables.

Machines, Tools, Equipment, And Work Aids

Includes kitchen appliances, utensils, software, and office equipment.
