Job summary

Open Door Mission, based in Omaha, seeks a Kitchen Services Coordinator to support daily operations at the Hospitality Center, coordinating dining, meal service, volunteers, and inventory while upholding health standards.

You will collaborate with the Director of Hospitality and Food Services to provide a welcoming, dignified guest experience and promote compassionate Christian care for guests, volunteers, and staff.

• Regular church attendance and active faith embodiment.
• High School Diploma and Food Service training required.

About This Position

The Kitchen Services Coordinator is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Hospitality Center by ensuring a welcoming, organized, and dignified experience for all guests. This position coordinates dining room activities, meal service, volunteer involvement, food inventory, and donated food distribution while working closely with the Director of Hospitality and Food Services and other departments to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. Responsibilities include maintaining clean and safe hospitality spaces, supporting meal preparation and service, monitoring supplies and inventory, assisting with food donation management, and promoting compliance with food safety standards. This role also supports Open Door Mission's ministry by fostering an environment of compassion, hospitality, respect, and spiritual care for guests, volunteers, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare meals during assigned shifts.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas, serving lines, beverage stations, and restrooms.
• Implement and enforce food safety and handling standards.

Minimum Requirements

• A visible relationship with Jesus Christ, and ability to share the gospel as opportunities arise.
• Consistent attendance at a local Christian church.
• High School Diploma
• Training in Food Service Preparation.
• Three or more years’ experience working in a kitchen preparing food, menu preparation, cooking skills, recipe preparation

AN IDEAL CANDIDATE WOULD HAVE...

• Food Handler Certificate/Training
• Experience working in a nonprofit, shelter, or community meal program
• Customer service experience
