Base pay range

$18.00/hr - $18.00/hr

Position Summary

The Prep Cook/Line Cook is responsible for preparing foods to be served to guests throughout the venue. The Prep/Line Cook will often have direct contact with the public working in areas such as a buffet line slicing meats or preparing dishes to order. The Prep/Line Cook must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work events as scheduled per business need.

This role will pay an hourly wage of $18 to $22.00.

About The Venue

The PHX Arena is in downtown Phoenix, home to the Phoenix Suns and Mercury basketball teams, hosting various events and concerts, making it a premier sports and entertainment destination in the southwest.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, fresh food products in a timely manner for guests.
• Prepare hot and cold foods following recipes and portioning requirements.
• Work as a team in food preparation, service, and delivery.
• Report maintenance needs for kitchen equipment.
• Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards.
• Test foods to ensure proper cooking.
• Portion, garnish, and arrange food plates for delivery.
• Consult with culinary staff to plan menus and estimate food consumption.
• Demonstrate excellent attendance.

Qualifications

• Previous cook or prep cook experience.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment such as broilers, steamers, ovens, mixers, slicers, and knives.
• Effective communication skills in English.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Valid food handling certification if required by law.
• ServSafe certification preferred.
