Job summary

Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, seeks a Kitchen Prep Assistant/Production Assistant to support daily cold food production under the Head Chef. You will read recipes, prep ingredients, operate cold prep equipment, assist with serving lines, and maintain sanitation and safety standards in a high-volume dining operation.

The role is full-time during the academic year, with a 12:30pm–8:30pm schedule on most days and weekend hours.

Qualifications

• Two years of food service or closely related experience.
• Proficiency with basic food preparation techniques.
• Current ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for use in recipes for hot and cold production.
• Read recipes and prepare to specifications.
• Assist with setup, service, and cleanup of serving lines.
• Follow food handling and storage procedures.
• Monitor refrigerator/freezer temperatures and document readings.
• Assist in cold production and assembly for catering.
• Operate cold food prep equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness of storage, cooking, serving, and holding areas.
