Job summary

Rita's on the River LLC is seeking a Kitchen Manager I to lead our back-of-house team on the San Antonio River Walk. This high-volume Tex-Mex concept requires hands-on leadership, strong organization, and a focus on consistency and food quality.

The ideal candidate has seasoned experience managing events, catering, and private dining, with solid knowledge of food safety, P&L basics, and bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Weekend and holiday availability is required.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of kitchen management experience in a fast paced restaurant environment.
  • Proven ability to manage food service for large events, banquets, or catering orders.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Tex-Mex cuisine, hig-volume experience, and casual dining.
  • Excellent understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
  • General knowledge of P&L, Staffing, and Kitchen Expenses
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Responsibilities

  • Create prep lists, production schedules, and station assignments based on business volume and events

  • Lead by example, fostering a positive and productive kitchen culture

Location: Rita’s on the River – San Antonio, TX

Compensation: Competitive salary, based on experience + benefits

Schedule: Must be available weekends, evenings, and holidays (Closed on Sundays)

Job Overview:

Rita’s on the River is seeking a dedicated and experienced kitchen professional to lead our dynamic back-of-house team as Kitchen Manager I. Located on the iconic San Antonio River Walk, we are a high-volume Tex-Mex restaurant serving locals, tourists, and large groups alike. The ideal candidate will not only ensure daily kitchen operations run smoothly but also bring experience in coordinating food production for large events, catering, and private functions. This role is crucial to maintaining the high standards our guests expect while improving systems for efficiency and consistency.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
  • This position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, reach, lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs as needed; and safely move throughout kitchen, dining, storage, and service areas. The role may include repetitive movement, frequent guest and team communication, and work during high-volume service periods. Employees may be exposed to heat, cold, noise, wet or slippery surfaces, cleaning products, and other conditions common to restaurant operations.
