Statement of the Job

A Kitchen Manager oversees the convenience store and food operations of a truck stop according to company policies and procedures to ensure maximum sales and profitability. He/She supervises personnel within the store. Work closely with the General Manager to continually improve the food service department. We pay managers hourly, so get paid for what you work, rather than those other companies that abuse and put you on salary.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the successful operation of the Food Service.
  • Perform all duties expected of a store associate and other duties assigned or requested.
  • Meet or exceed store guidelines, including inventory, cash shortages, and budgeted hours.
  • Develop and maintain a staffing schedule to ensure customer satisfaction and store cleanliness within budget guidelines.
  • Complete all administrative duties accurately and timely, including reports.
  • Follow and enforce all corporate cash procedures and policies.
  • Manage customer relations courteously for maximum satisfaction.
  • Oversee store maintenance and report major equipment issues.
  • Enforce all company policies and adhere to local, state, and federal laws.
  • Ensure store safety and proper stock levels.
  • Monitor gasoline inventories and report discrepancies.
  • Interview, hire, train, evaluate, counsel, discipline, and terminate staff as needed.
  • Attend management meetings and conduct employee meetings, communicating openly with management.

Job Duties: CHAMPS CHICKEN

  • Prepare food items following safety and presentation standards.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and equipment.
  • Restock items as needed during shifts.
  • Follow sanitation and food production codes.

Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly or Twice monthly

Starting pay is $15.00 to $18.00 per hour, depending on experience. Advanced management experience may lead to higher starting pay.

Additional pay of $.50/hour from midnight to 6 a.m. (see company policy).

Performance reviews occur as early as 90 days, with annual reviews thereafter.

Health Insurance available within 90 days of starting.

Benefits include Vacation Pay, Overtime pay over 40 hours, Annual Bonus based on store profits, and Holiday pay for those working holidays.

The manager's duties include ensuring high customer service, store appearance, and operational standards, including:

  • Customer Service
  • Cash register operation and accountability
  • Completing shift reports
  • Cleaning and maintenance
  • Stocking shelves and coolers
  • Floor cleaning
  • Receiving and checking deliveries
  • Yard maintenance
  • Other management tasks

Requirements include reliable transportation, ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, and physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs.
