Position Overview

The Michigan Out-of-Doors Youth Camp is seeking a kitchen manager for the 2025 season. Catering experience is preferred. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work well with others at the camp and possess knowledge of food preparation, serving standards, and kitchen procedures. Advanced training in diet and nutrition or college degrees in nutrition or kitchen management are preferred.

Responsibilities
  1. Train kitchen staff
  2. Plan nutritionally balanced meals in accordance with state regulations and food licensing
  3. Prepare meals for 50 campers and staff
  4. Ensure licensing compliance
  5. Collaborate with the Camp Health Officer to address special dietary needs
  6. Stock the kitchen with food and equipment throughout the season
  7. Provide weekly menus
  8. Clean and prepare food service areas for use and inspection
Qualifications
  • At least 18 years of age
  • CPR/First Aid Certified
  • Experience as a cook or assistant cook for large groups
Position Details

This is a nine-week position beginning June 9th, 2025.
