Job summary

Casa Esperanza, Inc. in Boston is seeking a Kitchen Manager to lead daily food preparation for up to 75 individuals, supervise cooks, and ensure safety and quality from 6am to 2pm, seven days a week.

You will plan scratch meals, manage inventory, and coordinate purchases while following health standards. Strong organizational and bilingual (Spanish/English) abilities preferred, Serv Safe certification preferred or willing to obtain.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of food preparation and kitchen management experience for 75+ guests.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements and training requirements.
  • Ability to lift repetitively from 25 to 50 pounds.
  • Experience preparing Latin American cuisine is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow guidelines and work independently; cover for other cooks as needed.
  • Prepare and organize workload to efficiently cook from scratch.
  • Serve and store food per health and safety standards.
  • Stock food supplies on delivery; manage produce, dry goods, spices, and pantry items.
  • Perform quality control on foods leaving the kitchen.
  • Request inventory items to meet demand.
  • Coordinate purchase of food, supplies, and equipment for 3 meals per day for up to 75 people.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is safely used and maintained.

Casa Esperanza, Inc. is a bilingual/bicultural behavioral health treatment provider serving Boston and the Merrimack Valley. What you'll do
  • As kitchen manager, you should be able to follow guidelines and work independently when required and to cover for other cooks when needed.
  • Ability to follow the daily menu and prepare and organize the workload to efficiently cook, including cooking from scratch.
  • Serving and storing food in accordance with health and safety standards
  • Stocking food supplies when delivered, including fresh produce, dry goods, canned goods, spices, and pantry items, accordingly
  • Performing quality control on food leaving the kitchen
  • Requesting inventory items to keep up with demand
  • 1-year minimum experience cooking for several people. Be able to cook and prepare a variety of foods.
  • Experience working and safely use all kitchen equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate the purchase of food, supplies, and equipment needed to prepare 3 meals per day and make healthy snacks available for up to 75 individuals.
Qualifications

  • Fluent in Spanish (Preferred)

  1. Whole Foods: A significant portion of our food is fresh, but also we have food coming out of packaging and/or boxes premade.
  2. Menu Fluidity: Seasonality drives the menu, resulting in daily or weekly changes based on what’s fresh and at peak flavor.
  3. Customization: Since everything is made from scratch, there’s flexibility to tailor dishes to dietary restrictions.
  4. Craftsmanship: Culinary skills and techniques shine through, reflecting the team’s expertise in the kitchen.
Job Type:

Full-Time – Availability 7 Days a Week from 6am to 2pm
