Job summary

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is seeking a Cook for Our Daily Bread to prepare large batches of meals following standardized recipes and current regulations. The role includes directing kitchen staff and volunteers to ensure smooth daily operations.

You will work Saturdays and Sundays from 6am to 1:30pm, with at least 1 year of cooking experience and ServSafe certification. The position emphasizes safety, accuracy, and teamwork in a community kitchen setting.

Qualifications

• 1 year of cooking experience in commercial kitchen or restaurant environment.
• ServSafe Food Handler certification (may be obtained within six months of employment).

Responsibilities

• Ensures compliance with health regulations and protects products from receiving to service.
• Prepares food according to safe handling practices and reports violations.
• Receives and stores food donations with accurate documentation and inventory accountability.
• Plans menus using donated food while ensuring nutrition and budget adherence.
• Trains kitchen workers and volunteers for meal prep, service, and cleanup.
• Maintains sanitary conditions and cleans equipment and areas, addressing deficiencies.
• Maintains kitchen records and statistics for operations.
• Manages inventory to reduce waste and report shortages.
• Works independently to ensure efficient daily kitchen operations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
