Job summary

Milford Senior Center (Meals on Wheels Program) is seeking a part-time Kitchen Helper to support daily meal service. You will maintain clean work areas, assist in packaging and distribution of meals, and help with basic food prep under supervision.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• One to three months related experience and/or training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in packaging and distribution of meals.
• Prepares and cleans tea, coffee, and water urns for clients.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and sanitize pots, pans, and utensils.
• Follow sanitation and safety regulations per Food Code.
• Transfer supplies between storage and work areas.
• Monitor food temperatures with thermometers.
• Back up serving lines and ensure adequate food supply.
• Transfer completed food packages to transport or storage areas.
• Gather supplies needed for daily operation.
• Other duties may be assigned.

SUMMARY

Maintain kitchen work areas and equipment and utensils in clean and orderly condition. Help kitchen staff with daily tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in the packaging and distribution of meals
• Prepares and cleans tea, coffee, and water urns (and condiments) for congregate clients
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, remove trash, clean, and sanitize pots, pans, and utensils as assigned
• Follow sanitation and safety regulations as noted in the Food Code
• Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas
• Monitor food temperatures using thermometers
• Backs up serving lines, makes sure the line has an adequate amount of food
• Transfer completed food package to appropriate areas for transport or storage
• Cather supplies and products needed for daily operation
• Other duties may be assigned
