Job summary

The Modern, a Michelin-starred contemporary American restaurant at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, seeks a Kitchen Extern to support the kitchen team and learn through hands-on, professional exposure. You will assist line cooks, help set up stations, and participate in the flow of market deliveries with attention to detail.

You’ll grow with a team that values Enlightened Hospitality, teamwork, and continual learning, while standing for long periods and communicating in English.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen environment through education (culinary school, or similar).
• Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time.
• English fluency; additional languages preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Consistently support a culture of Enlightened Hospitality.
• Demonstrate an eagerness to refine techniques and to continually learn and grow.
• Communicates effectively with the kitchen team and collaborates with the staff.
• Assist with receiving, labeling, and storing market deliveries with the prep team.
• Support line cooks in station setup and component preparation for service.
