Job summary

Coweta County Schools is seeking a Kitchen Maintenance/ Refrigeration Maintenance and Repair technician to ensure safe, efficient operation of school kitchen appliances. The role involves repairing ovens, refrigeration units, dishwashers, ice makers, and related equipment, as well as charging refrigerants and servicing electrical components.

Responsibilities include purchasing parts, maintaining tools, coordinating with other trades, and inventorying equipment by location.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of procedures, practices, tools, and equipment required to complete the job proficiently.
  • Skill in troubleshooting malfunctions of kitchen equipment, refrigeration, and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions.
  • Ability to plan, work, and coordinate with other trades.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain all school food service kitchen equipment including ovens, refrigeration, dishwashers, ice makers, slicers, mixers, and serving lines.
  • Determine the type and amount of refrigerant and charge compressors.
  • Change and service contactors, capacitors, and other components as required.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and operate all electrically driven equipment.
  • Purchase necessary parts for repair.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in serviceable condition.
  • Hold a valid Georgia driver’s permit and maintain a county-owned vehicle.
  • Maintain an inventory by location of all school food service kitchen equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Directors.

TITLE: KITCHEN MAINTENANCE/REFRIGERATION MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR

EMPLOYMENT TERMS

12-month - Hourly/Starting at $22.08 an hour

RESPONSIBLE TO

Maintenance Supervisor

PRIMARY FUNCTION

To maintain, repair, and ensure the safe, efficient, and long-lasting operation of appliances.

EXPERIENCE

Evaluated on an individual basis.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Repair and maintain all school food service kitchen equipment to include, but not limited to, ovens, refrigeration, dishwashers, ice makers, slicers, mixers, and serving lines.
  • Determine the type and amount of refrigerant and charge compressors.
  • Change and service contactors, capacitors, and other components as required.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and operate all electrically driven equipment.
  • Purchase necessary parts for repair.
  • Maintain in a serviceable condition all tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks.
  • Hold a valid Georgia driver's permit and maintain in a good, clean, serviceable condition a county-owned vehicle.
  • Maintain an inventory by location of all school food service kitchen equipment.
  • Perform such additional responsibilities as may be assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Directors.
REQUIRED SKILLS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, and stairs.
  • Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, OR TRAINING
  • High school diploma, GED, vocational school, or any equivalent combination of training and experience desired.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Evaluated on an individual basis.
