Job summary

Child Serve is hiring a Full-Time Kitchen Coordinator for our Des Moines clinic. The role supports ordering, storing, preparing, and distributing meals and snacks, with potential to assist in childcare classrooms or other admin duties as assigned.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:30am–1:30pm, totaling 30 hours per week. The position involves lifting up to 35 lbs, English communication, and adherence to care plans and dietary guidelines.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate in English effectively for understanding, in writing and verbally.
• High School Diploma preferred; CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Create and prepare rotating menu with meal requirements designated by the Federal Food Program.
• Distribute meals and snacks according to guidelines for portion size and child’s age.
• Supervise children, maintain classroom ratio, follow care plans, and engage with children when assigned to a classroom.

What You'll Do

• Create and prepare rotating menu with meal requirements designated by the Federal Food Program.
• Distribute meals and snacks according to established guidelines for portion size and child's age. Assure consistent distribution of meals and snacks in accordance with established time frames.
• Supervise children, maintain classroom ratio, follow care plans, and actively participate and engage with children when assigned to a classroom, when needed.
• Assist with additional administrative responsibilities, as needed.

What You'll Need

• High School Diploma preferred.
• CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification within 6 months of employment.
• A minimum of six months’ experience working in a health care facility, restaurant or cafeteria, or worked as a cook's assistant with on-the-job training is preferred but not required.
• Ability to communicate in English effectively for understanding, in writing and verbally.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
